The Hon Gary Nairn, Chair of the Tasmanian Spatial Information Council (TASSIC), has announced that TASSIC has just released its new strategic plan for spatial information in Tasmania 2013-2016 – Towards location intelligence.

The plan reports on the outcomes and successes of the 2009-2012 TASSIC strategic plan, and goes on to identify the barriers preventing access and use of spatial information, and how best to remove them.

“We will be concentrating more on the use of spatial information to add value to business analysis, resulting in much better decision-making,” said Gary Nairn. “And we will be further facilitating development of the skills required to use spatial information more efficiently and effectively.

“It has been a rewarding experience to lead and work with other TASSIC members over the past two and a half years and I look forward to implementing this new strategic plan with their assistance.

“Spatial Information is location intelligence and TASSIC will be striving to use this intelligence to ensure the ubiquitous use of spatial information to help grow Tasmania’s future.”
