Microsoft partnership headlines Bentley’s YII news

By on 21 October, 2020

New partnership will see Microsoft’s Azure cloud platform at the core of Bentley’s iTwins product.

As is tradition, Bentley Systems has kicked off it annual Year In Infrastructure conference with a cavalcade of company announcements, with the big ticket item for 2020 being a new alliance with Microsoft.

The new partnership appears set to integrate Microsoft’s Azure IoT and Azure Digital Twin products to power Bentley’s mammoth iTwins platform for managing large-scale digital twins of high complexity.

“At Bentley we believe that infrastructure digital twins can empower engineers, constructors and owner-operators to design, build and operate infrastructure assets that are more cost-effective, more resilient and more sustainable,” said Greg Bentley, CEO, Bentley Systems in making the announcement.

“With Azure as the foundation of our cloud services, our offerings are more broadly scaled and differentiated by the further integrations of Microsoft technologies. We are excited to extend our partnership to bring new digital twin advances to infrastructure engineering organisations and their constituents.”

Mr. Bentley indicated that the partnership aims to focus on opportunities for digital twins in implementing infrastructure for smart cities, and increasing citizen engagement into urban planning processes.

Doubtless there will be more news as Bentley’s virtual YII event powers ahead this week.
