The region’s largest annual geospatial gathering, Locate, is starting to take shape, with organisers announcing that the Hub will be back for next year’s Locate20.
First introduced in 2019, the Hub offers a unique space for delegates, exhibitors, industry bodies, government, academia and non spatial experts to come together to explore the pressing problems in the geospatial sector, learn about new approaches and collaboratively identify solutions.
The Hub will again be located in the Market Hall area of the Locate20 conference, taking place in Brisbane 28-30 April, and organisers say it features a series of interactive sessions that will complement the main-stage presentations by providing opportunities for more dynamic and collaborative engagement around conference themes.
Thinkplace will bring live-scribing back to the Hub for Locate20.
Sessions will range from policy and product launches, demonstrations, mini-learning seminars, networking activities, and panel Q&As; all in an intimate setting that encourages deep discussion between participants.
Organisers say a new session taking place at Locate20’s Hub will be a new initiative for students and early career researchers to develop their skills in industry and government engagement. On Market Day, Research@Locate will host a half-day Innovation workshop at the Hub that will provide participants with hands-on training in methods of engagement and effective pitching, and the opportunity to practice these skills with real industry experts.
Organisers say the Hub was a major success at Locate19, and that feedback from attendees highlighted the meaningful discussion it spurred among conference-goers, with session topics including Diversity and Inclusion, Transformative Methods and Approaches, UN Sustainable Development Goals, and Inspiration.
