New Zealand’s Kairūri Community Trust has announced the launch of its first general grants program.

Intended to advance the surveying and spatial sector in Aotearoa New Zealand, the grants aim to support initiatives that deliver clear public or community benefit.

This includes projects focused on building professional capability, enabling innovation, improving access and participation, or increasing the understanding of spatial information and its role in communities.

The grants, of up to NZ$2,000 per project, are open to students, early-career professionals, researchers, industry groups and community organisations.

The Trust is encouraging a broad range of applications, including projects outside traditional surveying that make use of spatial data.

In a statement on its website, the Trust said that it looks forward “to supporting the initiatives that will help define the future of our profession”.

Applications close on 24 April 2026.

The Kairūri Community Trust also operates the Stirling Scholarship. Kairūri means ‘surveyor’ in Māori.
