The GIS in Mining & Exploration conference 2013 will run form 31 July – 01 August, 2013 at the Duxton Hotel in Perth, Western Australia, and will focus on the themes: managing big data; creation of 3D spatial models; and enabling mobile interactions with field workers.

GIS managers across Australia play a large part in helping exploration and mining projects become more efficient. In particular, GIS has the potential to improve operations on the site by providing end-users with accurate information to make informed decisions. Taking this into consideration, this year the conference will focus on what GIS specialists need to know more of to succeed in current market conditions. In particular, our agenda focuses on key themes including

  • Application of data to create 3D geological models
  • Enabling mobile interactions with field workers
  • Management of data, its input and usability

Mining IQ’s GIS in Mining & Exploration conference will help you effectively use your GIS systems to enable your company to get more “bang from the boom”. Furthermore, to help you in your professional development, the Australian Institute of Mine Surveyors has reviewed our agenda and will be assigning 9 SP points to the conference.

Confirmed presenters so far include:

  • Jason Schaafsma, GIS Manager, Rio Tinto
  • Dhan Prabhu, Senior GIS Geologist, Iluka Resources
  • Kate Lester, Senior GIS Data Analyst , MMG Golden Grove
  • Dominique Berger, Senior GIS Analyst, AECOM
  • Ben Sommerville, Spatial Systems Manager, Thiess
