Tech industry veteran and former athlete, Dean Capobianco, has been appointed CEO of geospatial data company Geoscape Australia.

Capobianco was formerly an adviser to Karlsgate, a company that developed a privacy-by-design data sharing technology. He is currently also a non-executive director of Provider Choice, which operates a digital platform that guides clients through the National Disability Insurance Scheme.

And staying true to his athletic roots, Capobianco is also co-founder of an indigenous youth sports program.

“Dean is a commercially astute and execution-oriented business leader,” said Lynne Robinson, chair of the board of Geoscape Australia.

“He has successfully built, scaled and transformed businesses in Australia and the Asia Pacific region.”

Capobianco’s remit is to boost growth via new partnerships, business models and product innovation.

“The geospatial industry continues to evolve with the constant search for new data sources, tools and solutions, and I’m excited to lead Geoscape into its next phase of growth and innovation,” Capobianco said.
