GeoNext 2012 a success

By on 6 March, 2012

The first ever GeoNext conference wrapped up last Wednesday, after a day of inspiring talks, interesting discussions, fresh ideas, and new concepts.

150 delegates from around Australia and New Zealand braved the end-of-summer downpour, coming together to make the day a success.

The event focussed on both emerging and established internet technologies, and how they are interacting with, shaping, and influencing geospatial technologies.

The event attracted a range of delegates from both traditional geospatial disciplines – such as surveying and GIS – as well as those from the neo-geographer crowd. Together, the interaction of the two sectors were able to inform, connect and inspire.

Simon Cooper, managing director of Interpoint Events, the organisers of the conference, said: “With feedback being so positive from both the delegates and the presenters, we will definitely be running another show in 2013.”

Congratulations also go out to BuildAR.com, which won both the judge’s award and the crowd favourite at the Startup Showcase.
