Geo-Enabling our Community – NSW/ACT Regional Conference

By on 5 July, 2016

SSSI NSW and SSSI ACT have announced the NSW/ACT Regional Conference 2016, to be held on Thursday 24th November to Friday 25th November 2016 at Mercure Canberra, Braddon, ACT.

In 2015, over 100 surveyors and spatial scientists met for the annual SSSI NSW Regional Conference in the Hunter Valley. With the combined conference in the nation’s capital, the NSW/ACT Regional Conference 2016 is set to be even bigger.

The theme of this year’s conference will be:

“Geo-Enabling our Community – taking Surveying and Spatial to the people”

More specifically, Geo-Enablement refers to:

  1. Utilising spatial data to enable business and development processes within society.
  2. Embedding and leveraging the power of location and geography within workflows and business processes.
  3. The act of enriching non-spatial information with geographic context.

This means that the conference will focus on how surveying and spatial science professionals use location based data and applications as key facilitators in their decision-making or customer support.

In this context, the concept of Geo-Enabling our Community is offering new opportunities for government, businesses and the wider society in the use and development of spatial information.

A call for papers has been issued by the event organisers with a deadline of 12th August 2016.

There will also be Poster Display and those wishing to share their work in the exhibitor area and on the event website are invited to apply.

For further information please view the NSW/ACT Regional Conference 2016 event flyer. Registrations will become available closer to the event date.

If you are interested in sponsoring the vent please view the Sponsorship Information Pack.
