Garmin buys African Companies

Garmin Ltd. said recently that it had acquired the distributor of its automotive, recreation, fitness and marine products in southern Africa as well as Garmap Ltd., a South African mapping and mobile applications provider.
 
Garmin, which makes global positioning systems, said the deal will strengthen its presence in a rapidly growing region.
 
Financial terms were not disclosed.
 
Garmin Distribution Africa Ltd. will be renamed Garmin Southern Africa Ltd. and continue to operate at its current headquarters and warehouse facility near Johannesburg, the company said.
