Brisbane-based geospatial company, FloodMapp, has been awarded the Delivering for Queensland award for delivering outstanding outcomes for the community through innovation, disaster response and environmental initiatives.

“I’m very proud of what we’ve created and achieved at FloodMapp and it means a lot for the whole team to be recognised in this way,” said FloodMapp CEO and Co-Founder Juliette Murphy.

Recent floods in Queensland have caused $7.7 billion in damages and affected more than 500,000 people.

“I’m honoured to represent such an experienced and talented team, including hydrologists, flood engineers, software developers, data scientists and emergency managers, who are not only experts in their field, but who all genuinely care about helping Queenslanders through flood events and into their recovery,” said Murphy.

“At FloodMapp’s core, we strive to save lives and reduce the impacts of flooding. We want to see more resilient, prepared and prosperous communities as we adapt to climate change.”

FloodMapp products such as ForeCast, NowCast and PostCast provide intelligence for agencies and emergency managers, increasing situational awareness before, during and after flood events.

“We’re very proud to support our fellow Queenslanders by partnering with key home-grown agencies like Queensland Fire and Emergency Services, Queensland Reconstruction Authority and Energy Queensland for process improvement that is delivering better outcomes for Queensland,” added Murphy.

“Our vision is to become the most trusted provider of flood forecast and real-time intelligence data across the world and this recognition helps us on that journey.”
