Enterprise UAV solution provider Cape has announced their ambitions to bring their technology to the Australian market after closing Series A funding from Telstra Ventures.

The company said this investment will be used to expand R&D and to develop Cape’s go-to-market teams including the establishment of Cape in Australia, saying that they have identified Australia as a country that would benefit from the use of drones across a number of industrial and government verticals.

Cape have established their market appeal by enabling untrained users to conduct inspections, emergency response and surveillance operations with their own laptops, controlling UAVs from an unlimited distance with low latency controls and high resolution video, without them needing to interact with the hardware at all –batteries, transmitters or the drones themselves.

Matthew Koertge, Managing Director, Telstra Ventures, said of the Series A award: “Cape’s drone remote control and AI platform is an important emerging technology with diverse applications and benefits across industries. We are excited to support Cape as it innovates and delivers compelling value to its customers, enabling them to maximise the benefits of drones in a unique and powerful way.”

Cape also received funding in this round from Google’s Gradient Ventures, Mitsui & co. and existing investor NEA.
