The 17th ITS Asia Pacific Forum has been postponed to April 2021 and is being hosted in Brisbane by ITS Australia at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre.
The 4 day forum will include a strong industry program including tours and demonstrations, an exhibition, as well as an exciting social program. The 2020 ITS APAC Forum Theme of “ITS Innovation Creating Liveable Communities” will demonstrate Australia’s new initiatives and adapted learnings from the advances of our neighbouring mega cities. Key topics to be covered included MaaS (Mobility as a Service), Autonomous Vehicles, Data Analytics and network development.
Brisbane is a multicultural and dynamic city with first class facilities that is conveniently accessible to the APAC region. Michael is a trail blazer in developing the digital data team and discipline at Jacobs as not only a real value add, efficiency but product and service enricher for the surveying team. He gets involved with the planning, scanning, processing, adjusting, classifying, extracting, automation, analysis, visualisation and supports the interfaces of surveying and digital engineering and GIS environments for stakeholders from a broad variety of disciplines.

The 2021 Mine Surveying Seminar, jointly hosted by the Surveying & Spatial Sciences Institute and the Australian Institute of Mine Surveyors, has been designed to look at the changing roles of the mine surveyor in the near future due to disruptive technology.
The seminar will feature presentations on automation technology, control and monitoring, eudcation, data management and much more.
The aim of the day is to open a dialogue regarding the future of mine surveying work and responsibilities in a changing environment.
The full program will be announced shortly, but the plan is a full day of relevant presentations from local experts and suppliers, followed by sundowner drinks and nibbles at the nearby Floreat Hotel.

The 42nd Canadian Symposium on Remote Sensing will be a virtual event that will bring together academics, practitioners, vendors and policymakers from the remote sensing community in an informative and productive four-day event under the theme of Understanding Our World: Remote Sensing For A Sustainable Future. Although it has been almost 50 years since there have been a requirement for field information to be lodged, Sec 71 (e) of the Cadastral Rules for Survey 2021 requires the submission of “all relevant field information, in a form that ensures permanent usability”.
While surveyors have been retaining field information electronically, LINZ has found that in many cases the data has been inadequate or needs specific software, or there can be difficulty identifying raw measurements after processing or to relate them to the dataset.
This seminar will share insights from knowledgeable suppliers and practitioners to assist surveyors develop systems and processes to comply with the Rules and to present electronic field data in a clearly readable way.

This data implementation is important for organisations that want to take advantage of having sub-decimetre coordinate accuracy when capturing high accuracy data.

During 2020 an expert group drafted the SPACE+SPATIAL Industry Growth Roadmap 2030 – a national snapshot for Australian professionals to better understand the bold new future that’s rapidly approaching and what it means for them, their careers, their organisations and all of Australia.
The National Steering Committee is seeking feedback on the Roadmap from spatial professionals of all levels across the country. There are a number of ways to get involved, one of which is to participate in this SSSI and SIBA|GITA SPACE+SPATIAL Roadmap Online Session.
You will hear about the key plans, activities and issues and have the opportunity to have a meaningful discussion with colleagues about your thoughts on the Roadmap Consultation Paper and the topic in general.
