GEOINT 2020 Symposium Update
A Message from USGIF and its Board of Directors Regarding GEOINT 2020 Symposium:

As an update, USGIF is exploring all options to cancel or postpone GEOINT 2020. At this time, we are ceasing registration and asking all vendors to cease any GEOINT 2020-related production.

We recognize that this affects GEOINT Symposium attendees, exhibitors, sponsors, vendors, and university faculty and students. We are grateful for your patience as we explore every viable option.

Please stay tuned for more details in the coming days.

We wish you all continued health and safety in the days to come.

——

Hosted and produced by the United States Geospatial Intelligence Foundation (USGIF), a non-profit, non-lobbying educational organization, the annual GEOINT Symposium is the nation’s largest gathering of industry, academia, and government to include Defense, Intelligence and Homeland Security Communities as well as commercial, Fed/Civil, State and Local geospatial intelligence stakeholders.

The event annually attracts more than 3,500 attendees from all over the world, features more than 250 exhibiting organizations, offers 50 hours of training sessions, and countless opportunities to learn, exchange ideas, and network.

Who is USGIF?

The United States Geospatial Intelligence Foundation (USGIF) is the only professional organization dedicated to promoting the geospatial intelligence tradecraft and building a stronger GEOINT Community across industry, academia, government, professional organizations and individual stakeholders.

With almost 250 Organizational Members and more than 1,500 Individual Members, USGIF continues to build the community, advance the tradecraft, and accelerate innovation for the global GEOINT Community – commercial and government alike.

As a not-for-profit educational foundation, USGIF takes a broad view of GEOINT and build programs, activities, training, education, and credentialing to be of value to anyone using remote sensing, geospatial information, and data information and intelligence.

What is the GEOINT Symposium

USGIF’s GEOINT Symposium is the preeminent event of the year for the defense, intelligence and homeland security communities.

Each year since 2004, GEOINT Symposia have brought together an exciting agenda of keynote speakers, panel discussions, breakout sessions, and provided attendees a unique opportunity to learn from leading experts, share best practices, and uncover the latest developments from government, military and private-sector leaders.

This mix of community leaders with the largest intelligence-focused exhibit hall featuring the industry’s top solutions and capabilities brings attendees and exhibitors back year after year.

Of course, the GEOINT Symposium wouldn’t be the GEOINT Symposium without the rich networking opportunities. An opening welcome reception, exhibit hall receptions, and a closing celebration—as well as some impromptu networking events and receptions—provide tremendous opportunities with immeasurable returns on investment.

Advancing mobile mapping for infrastructure digital twins
May 14 @ 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Advancing mobile mapping for infrastructure digital twins

Bentley live webinar, hosted by Spatial Source

As a result of Australia’s increasing population and unprecedented infrastructure demands, the infrastructure and construction industry is experiencing one of the biggest booms with a significant wave of projects being rolled out across the country and with many more in the pipeline.

With increasing pressure to deliver these projects on time and within budget, infrastructure Digital Twins are providing new ways to visualize assets, check status, perform analysis, generate insights and drive better decisions. The starting point for creating a digital twin is capturing the true digital representation of the physical asset.
This is typically done with various 3D capture systems that can be used to acquire massive amounts of 3D mobile mapping data; imagery, point clouds, indoor and 3D reality models, from cameras and Lidar devices mounted on UAVs.

With the volume of data acquisition expected to grow across all phases of the asset lifecycle, it is crucial that organisations have a strategy in place to manage their 3D data so they can get the right information to the right stakeholders at the right time. Join us for this webinar as we look at how it’s possible to integrate, manipulate, and manage 3D data of any size, from any system. This webinar will cover:

• An overview of Bentley’s recent acquisition of Orbit GT, a worldwide leader in offering standardised Mobile Mapping software products for a complete 3D mapping workflow.
• How you can adapt to an all in one workflow: from Capture to Share.
• User case studies in Transport, Utilities, Survey & Construction, and Governmental sectors.
• How you can use automation tools to extract the digital components from your 3D data.
• How you can bring terabytes of 3D data online and make it accessible to all project stakeholders.

Monday, 1 Jun 2020
12:00 pm – 1:00 pm

Large scale updates to core information managed by many organisations, including Local Governments, is expected to be required over the coming year(s), particularly with the Vicmap DCM underway. Please join us as Andrew Densley (acting Manager Vicmap Strategy and Engagement, DELWP) and Graeme Martin (General Manager Operations, Spatial Vision) discuss the future impact and insights for Local Governments.
Vicmap Roadmap
Andrew will provide an overview of the Vicmap Roadmap series that is currently under development within the Vicmap team, plus a sneak peek of some of the motivators for change within the Vicmap data space including customer-driven data model enhancements and technology-driven data supply and delivery capabilities.
The tsunami of data headed your way
Graeme will be speaking about the tsunami of data headed your way. There has never been a more interesting time to be involved in Local Government GIS especially in Victoria. And a more challenging time. There is a Tsunami of new spatial data becoming available to Local Governments that may open up many opportunities for delivering more spatially intelligent and reliable services. It may also overwhelm some agencies. This presentation will describe the challenges, opportunities and possible responses to these initiatives. Hopefully, it will also open up a conversation about collaborative approaches to dealing with them.
About the speakers:
Andrew Densley
Andrew is currently acting Manager Vicmap Strategy and Engagement within the Land Information and Spatial Services (LISS) branch of the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP). He has been acting in that role since May 2019 and during that time he has spear-headed a number of major technology changes including the introduction of service-orientated architecture to Vicmap data supply and delivery, the development of dashboard reporting for Vicmap data use analytics and the build of a customer relationship management (CRM) solution for Vicmap stakeholder management. His usual role with DELWP is Manager Enterprise Spatial Data where he manages a team that delivers spatial services to DELWP and other government departments and agencies. He has over 23 years’ experience in the data and information industry working in various technical and managerial roles across various divisions of the Victorian and Queensland Governments.
Graeme Martin
Graeme Martin has been in working in the spatial industry for over 30 years. In this time, he has experienced working for both State Government and the private sector. Graeme has oversighted the design and delivery many information systems from Crown land management to public websites for water use. He has provided strategic advice on better utilisation of data resources to Federal, State and Local Governments from health, emergency management to natural resources. Graeme convenes the GIS Water User Group for Water Utilities and is an advisor to the Local Government Spatial Reference Group.
Graeme is the General Manager Operations for Spatial Vision. He continues to engage in interesting strategic consulting projects for clients.
