If you want to get an idea of the extent of the UK riots, Google Maps Mania has info on a UK Riot map has been created. It tracks the locations of tweets with the hashtag #londonriots and can even show grades of severity, if the tweets contain a ranking.
 
From the SMH comes a piece on Google’s self driving car having a car accident…only it was being driven by a person at the time.
 
GIS and Science asks “When will ArcGIS run on a Mac?” Answer… maybe after 10.1
 
In a more science-y post, GIS and Science also talk of how brains are only roughly aware of altitude when it comes to our internal maps.
 
The ever resourceful Google Maps Mania also has a post of interest to anyone about to embark on a holiday/adventure. It outlines a new web service that ties every travel post to a Google Map, called Blogabound.
 
Vector One is suggesting that, when buying a business, one should also look at the state of their GISystem. A fine example of the importance that GIS is playing in businesses today.
 
Google Earth Blog has a post on geoglyphs (massive sculptures visible from space) viewable on Google Earth, including new ones discovered from Amazon deforestation, and 13 years work by Andrew Rogers, and a corresponding Google Earth tour.
