Australia’s largest fire and emergency services conference, AFAC2013 (see www.afac2013.org) will once again be hosting a full day professional development program on the latest application of Spatial technologies throughout Australia’s Emergency management organisations.

AFAC is Australasia’s Premier Emergency Management Conference, staged by the industry, for the broader emergency management community. AFAC2013 will be held in Melbourne on 2-5 September.

Coordinator for the event, Steve Forbes (Manager Spatial Services for the ACT Emergency Services Agency) said “this exciting development program, now in its 6th year, is hosted by the industry coordinating body for Spatial and location technologies in Emergency Management, EMSINA (Emergency Management Spatial Information Network Australia).

“The event will take place on Thursday 5th September at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre. We strongly encourage anyone who works within or with Australia’s emergency management organisations come along.”

The day will finish with a panel discussion on the future directions for the application of Spatial Technologies in Australia’s emergency management space.

The conference theme for 2013 is ‘shaping tomorrow together,’ reflecting the need for emergency services to work together collaboratively with the community and other partners from the education, health, business and research sectors, and all levels of government, to positively shape our future.

The 2013 conference is the 20th AFAC Conference and the 10th Bushfire CRC conference, marking a significant milestone for the industry.

An Agenda for the program can be found here [pdf].

You can choose to attend the full conference, or just this professional development program. Registrations are via the conference website www.afac2013.org, choose PDP#3.
