The Net Zero Economy Authority has launched an interactive map that details more than 800 Commonwealth Government-supported renewable energy and research projects.
The Net Zero Investment Map enables investors, communities and workers to see in one place the range of projects backed by private investors and the government, taking shape across Australia’s cities and regions.
Developed in partnership with Canberra-based market intelligence firm RenewMap, the Map shows:
- Where projects are located;
- Their status and operation;
- Government support;
- Estimated number of jobs;
- Total investment associated with the project (where available); and
- Expected power generation.
It also shows power stations and their announced closure dates as well as contextual data such as transmission lines and renewable energy zones.
But doesn’t just display power generation projects — it also shows activities such as industrial heat recovery and heat pump efforts, and electric vehicle programs.

“The Net Zero Investment Map highlights how Australia’s transition to a net zero emissions economy is already underway, with new investment, jobs and opportunities across the country,” said the Net Zero Economy Authority’s CEO, David Shankey.
“The Net Zero Economy Authority helps coordinate Australia’s transition to net zero with clear, accessible information for communities, business and government. The Net Zero Investment Map is one of the tools that can help us do that.”
Alex Thompson, Director at RenewMap, highlighted the effect the of bringing the datasets together.
“Australia has an extraordinary transformation ahead. By consolidating these projects into a single, interactive platform, the Net Zero Investment Map helps Australians understand the broad spectrum of Commonwealth investment across net zero research and renewable energy projects,” he said.
The Map doesn’t yet cover all Commonwealth projects, but the Authority says it will continue to work with Commonwealth and state government agencies and investment schemes to regularly update it.
