Today the global geographic information system industry celebrates international GIS Day, observed every year in November.

GIS is one of those ‘behind the scenes’ sectors that is largely unknown to the public, and yet it plays a vital role in connecting our communities, building safer and more productive cities, and helping to overcome the myriad challenges facing the world… from protecting the environment to recovering from the COVID pandemic.

Hundreds of activities, meetings and gatherings are being held all around the world today, in recognition of GIS and GIS Day — find them on the map on the GIS Day website.
