Applications open for 2020 Mentors program

SSSI’s Young Professionals program has thrown open the doors of its mentoring program for 2020, with applications open until May 18.

The Young Professionals program  has been going from strength to strength in recent years, and the timely launch of their pivoted 2020 Mentors program helps to demonstrate why.

Running from June to November, the 2020 Mentors program runs in two streams — undergraduate and postgraduate — both entirely online.

Young Professionals Chair Roshni Sharma says that the program needed to keep pace with the changes wrought by Covid-19.

“Life has changed immensely for many of us in terms of the way we work, the way we live and the way we connect with our industry. This year’s SSSI Mentoring Program is designed to be entirely online, yet keep people engaged and connected, inspired to think about things in new ways and make new connections across the surveying and spatial industry,” she said.

“We have taking learnings from the previous two times we have run the program and added a number of exciting new features to keep our participants engaged, to really give them tangible value they can utilise every, day no matter what career stage they are at, and to help them to broaden and deepen their network in the industry.”

Past mentors and mentees have had glowing feedback for the program, in which fortnightly meetings carry an award of one CPD point each.

“We’re buzzing with excitement at how the new 2020 SSSI Mentoring Program will bring people together, generate new ideas and collaborations, and help people of all ages leverage soft skills for their career and business success,” Ms. Sharma said.
