AuScope Discovery Portal

Do you use geoscience or geospatial information in your research? Do you struggle to access data from across Australia from Government and research organisations? Do you spend too much time dealing with datasets or trying to find them rather than doing research?

If you use geoscience information and would like to know about new methods for seamless data access available from across Australia, then the AuScope Grid Roadshow 2014 will be of interest to you.

AuScope Grid is a geoscience information infrastructure that provides seamless, fully integrated access to data and tools from a wide range of Australian government and research organisations to researchers, industry and the wider community. With seamless access to data held by geological surveys, universities and the AuScope data acquisition program, there is now a wealth of new and existing data available for researchers. More than a Discovery Portal, the infrastructure includes web services for direct access from you research tools, be it a GIS package or your own research algorithms or even your organisation’s Virtual Laboratories

To aid users in how to best access this information, AuScope is having a road show in September in Perth, Sydney and Adelaide.

It will cover open source geospatial technologies such as GeoServer, QGIS and others. There will also be a Developer Day where developers have a chance to collaborate with others including AuScope developers to discuss solutions to problems using these technologies.
