12d Model International Innovation Awards

By on 30 January, 2012
Sparked by the Christchurch rebuilding project, civil and surveying software company 12d Model has launched the 12d International Innovation Awards to honour the best in innovative solutions around the world.

With a prize pool of $15,000, the inaugural awards – with winners to be announced at the 12d Model International User Conference in July — will acknowledge clever and inventive solutions and projects by 12d Model users.

It’s no coincidence that the idea for the inaugural awards was sparked by the Christchurch rebuilding effort, which has seen engineers and designers rise to the challenge even in the early recovery stages – with innovative strategies proposed including the greening of existing piles of rubble in the interim to provide less-scarred public spaces.

Christchurch is not just rebuilding its infrastructure, it is re-imagining what a city’s infrastructure can be. And SCIRT chose 12d Model as the design software for the $2 billion project, one of the biggest and most complex civil engineering briefs New Zealand has ever seen.
