Last month, the 100th CORSnet-NSW Continuously Operating Reference Station was installed and activated in Inverell. This milestone has been achieved well ahead of schedule and joins the other newly activated base stations in Bingleburra (near Dungog), Anna Bay, Merriwa, Newcastle East, Fort Denison, Hay, Balranald, Narrandera, Forbes, Warialda, Gunnedah, Nowendoc and Yamba.
In collaboration with the Victorian Government, CORSnet-NSW added another three base stations on the Victorian border as part of a cross-border sharing arrangement. The new Victorian stations are Irymple, Merrinee North and Lindsay Point.
This brings the total CORS to 103.
Des Mooney, General Manager of Land and Property Information (LPI) and Surveyor General of NSW announced the milestone and the expansion of network solutions at the 2012 Land Development Seminar in Liverpool, Sydney.
“Over half of the CORS have been made possible through partnerships with local government, while others have involved arrangements with neighbouring jurisdictions and other NSW and Commonwealth Government Agencies. It is a truly whole of Government infrastructure” Mr Mooney said.
Network RTK spreads west
An expansion of Network RTK services to three times the previous coverage area is now available to CORSnet-NSW users.
This means greater accuracy, reliability, stability and availability of CORSnet-NSW services for more users.
Users wishing to switch from single base to network solutions should select VRS, or Virtual Reference Station, from their mount point list.
Network RTK coverage will continue to be expanded as clusters of stations within inter-station distance limits form in the network.
VRS RINEX coverage has also been extended to match the real-time Network RTK coverage.
