Cameron Mills has been appointed the new president of national surveying industry body, Surveyors Australia.

He takes over from Craig Turner, who served in the role over the past four years and who will remain on the organisation’s board.

Mills has been a board member of the organisation since October 2021 and has served as chair of the Industry Training Alliance since May 2024. He’s also a director of surveying firm, Surex Surveyors.

“Craig has led Surveyors Australia through a period of significant growth and national alignment. We sincerely thank him for his dedication, leadership and contribution to the profession,” said Surveyors Australia’s CEO, Michelle Blicavs.

“We also congratulate Cameron on his appointment and welcome his leadership as the organisation continues to evolve.”

According to Surveyors Australia, the organisation is in the midst of expanding various programs, advocacy efforts and professional development activities, such as the Certified Engineering Surveyor Program.

Blicavs says the leadership transition has been carefully planned, with Mills working alongside Turner over the past 12 months.

“This is a strong example of effective succession planning,” said Blicavs.

“Cameron’s experience and commitment to the profession ensure Surveyors Australia is well positioned for the next stage of its growth.”
