Speaker highlight: Michael Haines, CEO, VANZI

By on 23 February, 2012

Michael Haines, CEO for Virtual Australia New Zealand Infrastructure is just one of the many exciting speakers presenting at GeoNext.

VANZ, VANZI’s main product, will be a true-to-life 3D model of all the major cities in Australia, where planning, consultation, communication, and modelling all take place. It’s like a business- government- and community-focussed Second Life.

In his presentation, Michael will discuss in detail the background to VANZI, its partners across the range of technologies: spatial, simulation, optimisation, visualisation, gaming, and building/city information modelling, as well as government agencies and utilities. He will discuss the latest developments in its architecture, and how firms can leverage off it to enhance their own 'value propositions' and service delivery.

Michael Haines is CEO of VANZI Ltd (Virtual Australia and New Zealand Infrastructure) – a not-for-profit company set up by the CRC-SI, Victorian Partnership for Advanced Computing (VPAC), NICTA, Municipal Association of Victoria (MAV) and Land Information New Zealand (LINZ). Michael is also on the Board of the Australian Logistics Council and a member of Austroads Intelligent Transport Industry Reference Group.

GeoNext will be held on the 29 February 2012, and aims to bridge the gap between the traditional and new worlds of GIS and location.
