A weekly round-up of geospatial news that didn’t make it into our normal daily coverage.

It’s all geospatial job vacancies this week in Spatial Snippets. Here’s what we’ve spotted around the country during our internet travels this past week.

Starting in Queensland, the Department of Transport and Main Roads is looking for a Spatial Science Officer based in Brisbane, to join the Engineering & Technology Branch to work with contemporary GIS, web mapping and spatial technologies to develop digital mapping products, analyse and manage geospatial data, and deliver trusted spatial information. Applications close on 12 October.

The same department has an opening for a Senior Town Planner to undertake statutory land-use and transport planning tasks for development assessment and compliance, and provide high-level strategic and regional planning advice. Applications close on 19 October.

In Victoria, the Department of Transport and Planning has a vacancy for a Senior Spatial Analyst, Transport Asset, who will provide technical and operational support for the Department’s Transport Asset Spatial platform, supporting Victoria’s digital engineering and transport asset programs. The role ensures spatial platforms using GIS and FME are reliable, available and performing effectively. Applications close on 18 October.

The same department has an opening for a Bus Data Coordinator, a role that involves managing and maintaining accurate spatial and timetable data representing Victoria’s public transport network. This includes bus stops, routes, paths of travel, geospatial information and timetables used by the department, customers and the transport industry. Applications close on 19 October.

In New South Wales, the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water has three jobs going. The first is for a Senior Scientist, Cultural and Spatial. This aboriginal-targeted position will lead applied scientific research and spatial analysis that strengthens Aboriginal cultural resilience and informs evidence-based fire management across the state, through delivering complex research projects, developing spatial tools and methodologies, and applying GIS analysis and modelling to support fire management planning and decision-making. Applications close on 18 October.

The second role is that of a Project Officer based in the Albury/Wagga/Riverina area, to support the delivery of projects that help maintain sustainable and equitable access to water resources. The role provides an opportunity to utilise GIS capabilities and data analysis to support water management outcomes. Applications close on 20 October.

The third vacancy is for a Regional Conservation Officer in the Biodiversity Conservation Trust in the North Coast Region. This landholder-facing role involves working directly with landholders to support them to enter and manage private land conservation agreements, acting as a key point of contact throughout the agreement lifecycle, and includes conducting site assessments and spatial/GIS mapping. Applications close on 20 October.

Transport for NSW is looking for an Assistant Mode Insights Officer to join the Active Transport, Design and Activation Branch. The role supports data collection, basic analysis, geospatial mapping, reporting, dashboards and documentation that generate actionable insights for program delivery. Applications close on 13 October.

Across the ditch, Kiwirail is looking for two Geospatial Analysts to be based in Wellington. The roles will support the delivery of Kiwirail’s geospatial re-platforming program and wider team initiatives, helping replace legacy systems with modern geospatial solutions that improve how the organisation designs, builds and manages its assets. Applications close on 18 October.

And the New Zealand Transport Agency is seeking a Senior Geospatial Advisor to provide trusted geospatial advice and complex spatial analysis to support better transport decisions, and lead geospatial initiatives and improvements from scoping through to delivery. Applications close on 19 October.
