Spatial Information Day 2026: Call for abstracts

The call has gone out for abstract submissions for Spatial Information Day 2026.

The event, to be held in Adelaide on 7 August, will bring together professionals from the surveying (land, engineering, mining, hydrographic), GIS, BIM, remote sensing, photogrammetry fields and all other spatial disciplines.

Spatial Information Day 2026, or SID, offers an opportunity for community members to share insights into their projects, research and innovations.

SID has been going for more than 20 years and has long been seen as South Australia’s premier spatial gathering.

The event brings together participants from across government, business, academia and the not-for-profit sectors. This year, it is expected to attract around 400 delegates, 40 speakers and 15 exhibitors.

Participants will be able to contribute to discussions about the latest developments in areas such as:

  • Innovation technologies and techniques
  • Real-world case studies in fields such as transport, environment, utilities, mining, energy, urban planning, health and emergency management
  • How spatial technologies can boost business growth and revenue
  • Professional development
  • Encouragement of young and emerging professionals
  • Sustainability and the environment
  • Smart cities
  • AI, IoT, machine learning and big data

The key dates to take note of, are:

  • Friday, 5 June 2026 – Submission deadline
  • Friday, 19 June 2026 – Acceptance notification
  • Tuesday, 30 June 2026 – Author registration deadline
