The SIBA National and Spatial Queensland Boards are pleased to announce the merger of the two entities. This was ratified by SIBA members on Friday 16th October in Brisbane at an Annual General Meeting of members and follows 18 months of negotiations and due diligence by both organisations.
The newly expanded will continue to deliver its services to members as the leading association representing the spatial industries. The merger consolidates SIBA’s ability to represent members in advocacy across all three tiers of Government, and more effectively leverage scale to drive growth and innovation for this dynamic and critical cornerstone of Australia’s knowledge economy.
An interim board has been announced and offers representation from across Australia and skills reflective of the diversity of member business types. They are:

Glenn Cockerton, the Chairman of the former SIBA National Board, continues as a member of the new interim board. “The merger is a strong and determined response to the growth of the spatial industry and draws together two organisations committed to a shared mission who have both been working under a common banner of SIBA. This merger will enable us to provide consistent messages and consolidate our combined efforts for greater impact and in turn increase awareness in the wider community for its services to business growth.” he said.
Alistair Byrom served on both the SIBA National and Spatial Queensland Boards. “Both SIBA National and Spatial Queensland have made this decision to merge and create an even stronger association. As increasingly more companies embrace location information as a strategic focus of their business, this merger is a necessity to maintain our momentum and continue to grow well beyond our traditional roots and excel in our services with increasing relevance to all members. “said Mr Byrom.
