South Australia’s Office of the Surveyor-General has been shifted from the Department for Trade and Investment (DTI) to the Department for Housing and Urban Development, following the DTI’s merger into a new Department of State Development.

The Surveyor-General’s office now sits within the Planning and Land Use Services division of the Department for Housing and Urban Development (DHUD), as of 1 July.

The DTI has been integrated with the existing Department for Industry, Innovation and Science to form the Department of State Development (DSD).

The DSD, which encompasses the functions of the Department for Industry, Innovation and Science, Invest SA and Brand SA, will have greater scope and responsibilities, including Skills SA and population strategy.

According to the South Australia Government, the consolidation of the economic growth portfolios is intended to “streamline coordination efforts for businesses and organisations… and foster greater efficiency”.
