Citizens of Ipswich, in Queensland, will be able to use a new, free online mapping system powered by MapInfo Stratus, to find out more information about the city’s properties and zoning. Also in Queensland, Logan City Council has extended its contract with Pitney Bowes for MapInfo GIS technology.

With the extension, Logan City will continue to use Pitney Bowes’ GIS analytics and 3D visualisation products from the MapInfo suite to manage its water infrastructure, protect its community, and continue to provide great customer service.

On similar lines, the Ipswich map will allow residents to check planning issues down to then individual property level, through easily navigated layers of information.

Councillor Tully, Planning and Development Committee Chairperson from Ipswich City Council said “This online mapping system provides much more user friendly mapping information about the city’s properties and zonings.

“From any computer in the world, you will be able to access the most useful data council holds on a property, including its zoning, lot size, accurate fence-line maps, and development information.

“The capacity to immediately update maps of Ipswich with emerging information means that in times of crisis there will be the capability to display how a weather event is unfolding in real time.”

The Ipswich map is available online at the Ipswich City Council website.
