The geospatial industry has quickly adapted to the Covid-19 crisis with a pivot to webinars to keep the wheels turning.

The dramatic spread of Covid-19 and attendant changes to human activity have stunned the world, with emergency social distancing and lockdown measures transforming business almost overnight. Ever-agile, thought leaders of the geospatial industry have rapidly adapted to online delivery to replace in-person training, conferences and lectures.

According to Emma Yates, marketing manager at 1Spatial, it’s incumbent upon organisations to adjust to these unprecedented circumstances as quickly as possible.

“What this challenging period has posed to us all is the question: Do we really need to be working from 9am until 5pm from the same office? It’s widely accepted that one of the major outcomes of Covid-19 for all major organisations is that overheads will be reduced by allowing employees the flexibility to work from their home environment,” she said.

Ms. Yates said that one of the positives of this period is the opportunity for people to upskill from home at an affordable price point through online content delivery mechanisms.

“Additionally, key events that we would typically need to travel to can now be accessed with far greater ease, and in fact — now hold potential for increased attendance by delivering these conferences and seminars online.”

So, let’s take a look at what’s out there.
