GeoNext 2013 will feature a panel of experts discussing the relationship between policy, government, and free access to data.
Everyone wants free and open (location) data to be available to government and the public. In this panel discussion, experts will cover the opportunities arising from new policies, as well as the barriers that still exist in government, while presenting the experiences from two practical case studies.
The panel will comprise:
- Helen Owens – General Manager, Office of Spatial Policy (ACT)
- Wayne Patterson – NSW Land & Property Information
- Leander Wiseman – NSW Department of Environment and Heritage
- Paul Cousins – Head of Geo ANZ, Google Australia
The panel session is supported by Office of Spatial Policy – Dept Resources, Energy and Tourism, and will be chaired by Maurits van der Vlugt, spatial information strategist.
Last year’s panel (pictured), entitled ‘Knowing where you are – Commercial opportunities arising from knowing the location of the consumer at the point of sale,’ was one of the highlights of the 2012 event, and covered, among other topics, the rise of NFC, and its potential not just in information sharing – including its placement on billboards – but also its potential in monetised games, from three different perspectives.
This year’s panel will be no less insightful. Don’t miss out.
