Call for Papers opens and GITA ANZ joins Locate15

The Spatial Industries Business Association (SIBA) and Surveying and Spatial Sciences Institute (SSSI) have welcomed Geospatial Information and Technology Association (GITA) ANZ as organising partners of the Locate15 Conference and Exhibition.

The inaugural year of the Locate Conference, held in Canberra this past April, joined  industry, government, and academia in an open exhibition alongside a 2-day conference and the Asia-Pacific Spatial Excellence Awards (APSEA). GITA announced in late August they had signed a Memorandum of Understanding to join its annual conference with the Locate Conference.

Locate15 will be held at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre on 10-12 March 2015. The conference convenor, Steve Jacoby, executive director of land and spatial information for the Qld. Department of Natural Resources and Mines welcomed the Conference to Brisbane. The advances in the industry with innovative technology and applications align with the City’s digital initiatives along with numerous spatial industry businesses established within the State.

Alongside this news is the announcement that the Locate15 call for papers has now opened.

The topics & themes for Locate15 are:

  • Environment
  • Sustainable management of our natural resources
  • Health
  • Innovation, Research and Development (Incorporating Research@Locate)
  • Managing our investment in infrastructure and utilities
  • Securing our Nation, Disaster and Emergency Management

Executive summaries can be submitted via the Locate15 website and will close on Friday 28 November 2014.
