The call has has been issued for submission of peer-reviewed and regular papers to be presented at next year’s Locate25 conference, to be held in Brisbane from 6 to 10 April.
Excitingly, Locate25 will be held in conjunction with the International Federation of Surveyors (FIG) Working Week 2025, the leading international surveying and geospatial conference.
Locate25 will span more than 70 technical sessions and interactive workshops, plus there will be a comprehensive exhibition area showcasing the latest advancements in technology.
The theme chosen for the conference is ‘Collaboration, Innovation, and Resilience: Championing a Digital Generation,’ reflecting the transformation that will be needed to redefine how the geospatial sector delivers value while advancing sustainability.
The combined event will include multi-disciplinary sessions spanning all ten FIG technical commissions, task forces, networks, and permanent institutions.
It will address political, economic, social and technological trends, which is why the organisers are encouraging paper submissions of a cross-disciplinary nature that reflect the evolving landscape of the sector.
Papers can be either peer-reviewed or non-peer-reviewed, and can range across a variety of disciplines such as geospatial, surveying, hydrography, construction, land valuation and more.
Some suggested topics include:
- The geospatial sector’s role in achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
- Addressing the climate challenges and building resilience through geospatial sector solutions.
- Exploring technological advancements and the global implications for geospatial practices within the evolving geospatial information ecosystem.
- Fostering a new generation of professionals and ensuring inclusivity across the industry through diversity and inclusion initiatives.
The deadlines for submissions are:
- Peer-review abstracts and full papers: 1 December
- Regular/non-peer-reviewed abstracts: 19 December
In addition to the expected 1,000 delegates who normally attend Locate, an additional 1,000-plus are expected to descend upon Brisbane for Working Week 2025.
The combination of the two events will present a special opportunity for Australasian geospatial professionals to connect, learn and collaborate on an international scale.
