From Smart Campus to Smart City
Seminar and Expert Panel Discussion
The SMART Infrastructure Facility at the University of Wollongong is pleased to host a SMART Session with Seminars and Expert Panel Discussion featuring Smart City experts on 6th December, from 2pm – 6pm.
The ‘Smart City’ concept is an invitation to rethink and reshape our cities to address the needs of generations to come. As part of the city, campuses around the world are leading the way for the smart revolution.
Visiting from Toulouse, France, Senior Professor Marie-Pierre Gleizes will introduce the neOCampus operation, which intends to transform the University of Toulouse III Paul Sabatier, France into a smart and sustainable campus. From the SMART Infrastructure Facility at the University of Wollongong (UOW), Senior Professor Pascal Perez will then introduce the Digital Living Lab, a SMART and UOW initiative to foster innovation and connect with communities.
Following these seminars, SMART will host an interactive discussion with an expert panel to discuss principles and the Research and Development opportunities for smart cities and campuses in Australia and around the globe. This will be the opportunity to question the roles that universities, government, administration and companies have to play in this digital revolution.
The panel, facilitated by SMART’s Transport, Land Use & Urban Quality Research Fellow, Dr. Cole Hendrigan, will feature:

Geo Week will commence on January 25th, 2019 with the start of the MAPPS Winter Conference which will run from January 25th until January 28th. Geo Week continues with the start of both International LiDAR Mapping Forum and ASPRS Annual Conference on Monday, January 28th which will run concurrently with a single exhibit hall and inclusive social activities. ILMF will close on the evening of January 30th and ASPRS Annual Conference will conclude with post-conference workshops on January 31st.
Geo Week is a multi-event collaboration including participation from MAPPS, ILMF, and ASPRS. All the education, networking, and business carried out at MAPPS, ILMF, and ASPRS can now be accomplished in just one week!

Mary-Ellen Feeney, returned from Homeward Bound, will speak on Leadership in STEM.
This will be followed by a lively and interactive panel session, facilitated by Raelene Forbes who herself will be part of Homeward Bound 4, to provide context and stimulate ideas with the focus being on gender equity.
Each panellist will then lead a workshop group concentrating in on the top three issues that SSSI should be focussing on to affect change for WIS.
Post workshop we will be able to network together and enjoy a wonderful three course meal with standard drinks all included plus night racing under lights!
