The Local Government Spatial Reference Group (LGSRG) will be holding a webinar on Monday, 4 September, to introduce a series of hands-on workshops it will be holding across Victoria during September 2023.
The webinar will cover the topic of Best Practice Geospatial Intelligence for Climate Impact, and will address important topics on climate impact, community safety and how geospatial intelligence can contribute to better outcomes for local governments.
The LGSRG was formed in 2003 to address the need for a sector wide group representing the strategic interests of the Victorian Local Government sector with respect to spatial information. The LGSRG has been active throughout the COVID pandemic to keep the local government geospatial community connected and engaged via the annual Spatial Capability Workshop series which have grown year on year, and is now diversifying with a quarterly Spatial Hour webinar to share stories of success within the local government geospatial sector.

The Tasmanian Spatial Information Council (TASSIC) will hold a Geospatial Workforce Development Forum on 9 November 2023, to help shape the future of the geospatial sector in Tasmania.
The Forum will bring together key stakeholders from education, employers, government and suppliers to address critical challenges and opportunities facing the sector.
The Forum will include presentations from representatives of industry, government and the education sector, as follows:

- Rob Rowell (Insight GIS)
- Ben Morris (Local Government Association of Tasmania)
- Michael Krome (Australian Spatial Analytics)
- Arco Lucieer (University of Tasmania)
- Sam Ebert (TAFE NSW)
- Troy Robbins (TasTAFE)
The event will conclude with a moderated discussion session led by Danika Bakalich (Geospatial Council of Australia).
The Forum will be a hybrid event with both in-person and online attendance options available, and it will employ the Menti-Meter program to facilitate discussions, ensuring that each delegate’s voice is heard and their input valued.

The Australian Local Government Association will host a national congress on roads and infrastructure from 3 to 4 December 2024, in Margaret River, Western Australia.
The congress is aimed at mayors, shire presidents, councillors, CEOs, general managers and local government engineers and works managers, and typically includes sessions on road funding, road safety and heavy vehicle access.
There is also usually a focus on community infrastructure, encompassing renewable energy deployment and integration, innovations in active transport, waste and recycling, affordable housing and resilient telecommunications.
