The theme for this year’s conference:
“Earth – Air – Fire – Water”
The conference theme was chosen to reflect the diverse nature of spatial and surveying sciences which is inherently a multidisciplinary pursuit. Individuals within the spatial and surveying industry undertake many projects and tasks from the conference theme. From monitoring weather systems using small IoT devices to sending multi million dollar satellites into space, the surveying and spatial science fundamentals form the critical building blocks for success.

A raft of construction and spatial industry leaders will come together to talk the future of digital engineering at the 3D Victoria Half-Day Conference in Melbourne.
The event will tackle a range of issues relevant to building a cohesive 3D framework for our built environment. A streamlined half-day program has been designed for maximum efficiency, while you will also get a rare chance to meet with peers at informal networking drinks, to follow the meeting. From Smart Campus to Smart City
Seminar and Expert Panel Discussion
The SMART Infrastructure Facility at the University of Wollongong is pleased to host a SMART Session with Seminars and Expert Panel Discussion featuring Smart City experts on 6th December, from 2pm – 6pm.
The ‘Smart City’ concept is an invitation to rethink and reshape our cities to address the needs of generations to come. As part of the city, campuses around the world are leading the way for the smart revolution.
Visiting from Toulouse, France, Senior Professor Marie-Pierre Gleizes will introduce the neOCampus operation, which intends to transform the University of Toulouse III Paul Sabatier, France into a smart and sustainable campus. From the SMART Infrastructure Facility at the University of Wollongong (UOW), Senior Professor Pascal Perez will then introduce the Digital Living Lab, a SMART and UOW initiative to foster innovation and connect with communities.
Following these seminars, SMART will host an interactive discussion with an expert panel to discuss principles and the Research and Development opportunities for smart cities and campuses in Australia and around the globe. This will be the opportunity to question the roles that universities, government, administration and companies have to play in this digital revolution.
The panel, facilitated by SMART’s Transport, Land Use & Urban Quality Research Fellow, Dr. Cole Hendrigan, will feature:
