Leica Geosystems Australia Roadshow – Adelaide @ Adelaide Pavilion
Oct 31 @ 12:30 pm – 4:30 pm
Leica Geosystems Australia Roadshow - Adelaide @ Adelaide Pavilion | Adelaide | South Australia | Australia

Our world is changing rapidly. The digital, data-driven revolution is already happening in most consumer-driven industries and those who fail to adapt and embrace the change, risk being left behind. Join Leica Geosystems and C.R. Kennedy, between 24 October – 2 November 2018 to learn how the latest solutions can increase productivity, save time and maximise revenue.

The series of Leica Geosystems events is the perfect opportunity to learn from product experts from Leica Geosystems and C.R. Kennedy, network with like-minded industry enthusiasts and of course, talk all things spatial. These events are taking place in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide & Perth. A certificate of attendance will be provided for all attendees.

Geodesy

The surveyor today has many tools available to collect data. The collation and post-processing of this data through a straightforward workflow from the field to the client is very valuable and critical to running an efficient business.

In this session, we will;

  • examine how multiple datasets are connected within the Leica Geosystems Infinity software
  • examine within a project how to coordinate and adjust a total station traverse with level data and GNSS CORS and view this with direct reference to different types of point clouds from scanners and drones
  • observe the direct interaction with online resources to download antenna and coordinate reference frame information from Leica Geosystems, with a focus on the implementation of GDA2020.

Machine Control

The presentation and live demonstration will describe the advancements made in the preparation and implementation of electronic data for use with machine control applications and site surveying. Based on real-world examples from the construction industry, we present workflows that offer real-time workflows, from the moment project data files are received to deployment with field crews and machines.

This presentation is designed to provide the attendees with a clear guide on 3D electronic data handling on civil construction projects.

Reality Capture

Leica has been the at the forefront of design and development of the laser scanning business for the past 20 years. They are the market leader in both unit numbers and revenue globally due to this continued investment in the technology and software solutions. The Leica RTC360 is the latest 3D reality capture solution with ground-breaking new technology that puts Leica Geosystems two years ahead of any competitor.

The new Leica RTC360 laser scanner makes 3D reality capture faster than ever before and is three times faster than any other scanner currently on the market. With a measuring rate of up to 2 million points per second and advanced HDR imaging system, the creation of coloured 3D point clouds can be completed in under two minutes. Plus, automated targetless field registration (based on VIS technology) and the seamless, automated transfer of data from site to office.

The RTC360 solution reduces the time spent in the field to maximise productivity. The Cyclone FIELD 360 app links the 3D data acquisition in the field with the laser scanner and data registration in the office with Cyclone REGISTER 360. On-site the user can automatically capture, register and examine scan and image data.

This presentation will show the new hardware and software workflows available with the RTC360 and how these improvements change the return on investment equation for anyone offering a reality capture service.

Underground Utility Detection and GIS

Locating and tracing underground utilities is a major concern and detecting the position of buried cables and pipes before excavation work can help prevent operator injury, asset damage risks and any subsequent costs. Yet, in today’s industry, some utility network operators and service providers are still using manual steps and inefficient workflows to document data in the field. This manual process can lead to duplicated data, delays in field data integration with the GIS, work instructions not being followed correctly, or unknown or unproven spatial field accuracy.

The presentation and live demonstration highlights the advancements made in the latest cloud computing, mobile device technology and subsurface detection systems. Based on real-world examples from the utility locating industry, real-time workflows are presented, from the moment a utility asset is detected and mapped in the field to the instant viewing and sharing of the data in a Web portal or augmented reality environment.

Building Construction

Today’s construction industry is characterised by shorter building cycles, reduced budgets and growing expectations for accurate data on demand. Although this situation presents numerous challenges for the construction industry, it also creates tremendous opportunities for firms that wish to differentiate themselves in an increasingly competitive market. We need to be smarter and more innovative about how we deliver construction projects; we need to be smarter and more innovative about how we use and operate assets during their life.

Over recent years, the industry has improved productivity largely due to new design technologies and building materials. However, the next frontier of innovation must be a fundamental change in the way information is captured and used throughout the procurement and construction process. With the adoption of technology, projects can be delivered more efficiently, with less waste and at a lower cost, and the data captured has the potential to transform the way buildings are managed and operated.

Whether you’re actively embracing BIM or just looking for a way to increase efficiency and transparency on the job site, digital layout and high definition reality capture is a great place to start.
