Belgium-based Aerodata International Surveys recently established Aerodata Australia Pty Ltd, based in Brisbane, Qld.

The new company will provide aerial photography using the VisionMap A3 super large format camera. A survey using the camera was recently conducted over Sydney, where Aerodata was able to capture 4,000 sq km of imagery at 10cm GSD in just three days, thanks to the extended capture capabilities of the A3 camera.

Luc Van Hoorick, Aerodata's Australia director, said that the country is vast and with constant demand for up to date aerial imagery. "Satellite imagery dominates where airborne acquisition is costly, but this trend is now changing with our new camera."

The company has 2 VisionMap A3 cameras and extensive experience in producing high resolution orthophotos over large areas around the world. "This new camera technology starts a new era in aerial surveys in Australia. Users who are looking for both positional accuracy and high resolution over large areas have an alternative to satellite imagery or conventional airborne digital cameras." he said.
