In most cars or phones we can find a GPS nowadays to help us to get where we need to be in the most efficient time. We take its accuracy for granted and make our hectic lives dependant on it. But who makes sure that this information is up to date? And what happened to the old fashioned way to show maps? Are their common rules these maps are bound by?

This seminar will answer these questions. It will take you on a journey from the beginnings of cartography and paper maps (atlas) over the use within the content of the World Wide Web and the integration into systems like the in car navigation system.
