Safe Software, the company that makes the well-known FME ‘any AI’ platform is expanding its global workforce by 15%.

In a world where every week seems to bring news of a company downsizing due to the effects of AI, it’s good to see one company bucking the trend by announcing a workforce expansion to take advantage of interest in its AI-powered products.

That company is Safe Software, which is headquartered in Canada. It has just announced plans to hire 60 more employees across Canada, the US and the UK by the end of the year… an increase of 15% to take the firm’s total workforce to more than 400.

Many of the new employees will be involved in sales leadership, revenue operations, enablement, marketing, and customer support.

But the company will also grow its product, engineering, and operational teams with open roles in AI enablement, test engineering, DevOps and design.

Adding to 30 years of growth

Safe Software is well-known to Australasian geospatial community through its FME product, which is provided locally by the likes of Locus Australia and 1Spatial Australia (recently acquired by VertiGIS).

While not specifically an AI company itself, Safe Software says that thanks to its all-data, any-AI FME platform, it has seen significant growth and expansion, reaching US$100 million in annual revenue last year, and keeping it on track towards its US$250 million target for 2028.

In terms of staffing the company says it had only a 1.6 percent voluntary turnover rate last year.

“Almost every organisation we speak to is trying to get its data ready for AI, and most of them are realising that the hard part is not the model, it is the data underneath it.

“Our people have always been core to solving this need for our clients, and it’s why we need more people in more places.”
