Geospatial Sciences Victoria (GSV) will hold its inaugural GSV Futures Forum at RMIT University in Melbourne on Thursday, 24 September 2026.

The half-day GSV Futures Forum will feature presentations from respected geospatial thought leaders, insights from industry practitioners, and discussions on the opportunities and challenges shaping Victoria’s geospatial future.

Attendees will hear diverse perspectives on innovation, emerging technologies, workforce development, collaboration, and the evolving role of spatial data in supporting better decision-making across government and industry.

A highlight of the forum will be an interactive panel discussion featuring representatives from industry, academia, government and the student community, providing attendees with the opportunity to engage directly with experts and contribute to important conversations about the future direction of the profession.

The event will conclude with a networking session, offering participants the chance to connect with peers, share ideas, build relationships and strengthen the geospatial community.

Attendance at the GSV Futures Forum is free, but registration is required.

As Spatial Source reported in June, the GSV is one of the new state-based bodies that has formed since the demise of the Geospatial Council of Australia last year.
