Czech auto maker Skoda is using GNSS receivers to measure the movements of its new models on test manoeuvres at the company’s development facility.
As a test driver executes a sequence of close loops at high acceleration and speed, two on-board receivers receive and transmit continuous observations of the dynamic transverse movement of the vehicle.
Each receiver is connected to its own rooftop mounted GNSS antenna and provides real-time centimetre-accurate positioning.
The GNSS receivers are connected via UHF to a third reference station that broadcasts instant real-time corrections.
The Ashtech ProFlex 500 receivers deliver position updates at 20 Hz (20 measurements per second).
Technical support for the GNSS hardware tuning and integration was provided by Ashtech and local dealer Geoobchod.
