Sydney will host one of the biggest spatial events in history this year, when the Locate Conference and the International Society for Digital Earth (ISDE) Symposium join forces for a joint event being held 3-6 April 2017.

Locate16 attracted almost 500 attendees last week, and with the international audience attracted by ISDE, this number is expected to be far greater in 2017. The event will be hosted at the International Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre, which is currently undergoing a $3.4 billion transformation and will be newly re-opened.

ISDE represents a global initiative to construct a comprehensive virtual representation of the planet through what is known as Digital Earth. It is a collaborative effort between Earth sciences, space sciences and information sciences to monitor and forecast natural and human phenomena.

ISDE is a non-political, non-governmental and not-for-profit international organisation, principally for promoting academic exchange, science and technology innovation, education, and international collaboration towards Digital Earth. Since 2010, their annual symposium has become a highlight of the international spatial events calendar.
