Digital Built Environment Conference 2014

The program for the Digital Built Environment Conference 2014, to be held 15-16 September at the Australian Technology Park, Sydney, has been officially announced.

Jointly hosted by Virtual Australia and New Zealand Initiative (VANZI), buildingSMART Australasia, and the Spatial Industries Business Association (SIBA) QLD , this conference is about the strategies you need to employ to reap benefits, mitigate risks, and overcome challenges involved in creating and using the Digital Built Environment.

The Digital Built Environment will ultimately comprise millions of 3D Building, Spatial and Legal Object Models that specify the physical attributes, and all rights, responsibilities and restrictions applying to each piece of ‘property’, from building components to entire structures, cities and states.

All digital modelling technologies are evolving at an astounding rate, allowing us to create full 3D representations of both new and existing urban structures that are embedded with information about their appearance, function and performance – challenging the way that we design, build and manage the real world.

This conference will report on the latest user, industry and research-driven initiatives to address two critical aspects of this new ‘virtual infrastructure’:

  1. Systems and business processes required to create, retain and integrate (ultimately millions) of separate information models, particularly from a BIM and spatial/point cloud perspective.
  2. A framework for ‘certification of data’, ‘authentication of users’ and ‘authorisation of access’ – having regard to each person’s rights, responsibilities and restrictions in the real world.

With national and international keynote speakers representing all stakeholders, this event brings together leading government bodies, industry associations, their members, and clients who are using these technologies to drive change across the Australian & New Zealand and international built environments.

Registration is now open at the early booking fee of $1,095 +GST, and also the group booking discount of register 2 delegates and a 3rd can attend free.
