Surveying & Spatial Sciences Conference 2013 aims to focus on all five commissions’ interests – covering technological advances, new uses via interesting case studies, and future innovations.

LiDAR is a hot topic for remote sensing & photogrammetry, airborne and bathymetric hydrography, adjustments of broad area airborne surveying, developments in mobile mapping, and the use of 3D Data. At the conference, you’ll case studies and research on LiDAR from USQ, Curtin University, AAM DigitalGlobe, and Fugro LADS.

Land Surveyors will investigate the legal ramifications of GPS & GNSS measurements, and the best assessments & testing methods; Chris Rizos will discuss the impact of modernisation of Global Geodesy; and the next generation Datum impact on Spatial is introduced in this stream by Richard Stanaway (UNSW) and Rachelle Winefield (Land Information NZ)

GIS Analysis & Mapping offers immersive case studies covering the benefits to planning, showcased in a diverse range of different programs – from health budgets, to water management, to emergency recovery.  Great advancements in mapping, modelling, the cloud, web and mobile apps will be covered in presentations by: AAM, Aurecon, Cardno; Dept of Broadband, Communications & the Digital Economy; Esri Australia; Oracle; SKM; and Spatial Vision.

Hydrographers will meet the new Hydrographer of Australia, CDRE Brett Brace.

Of interest to all will be the Next Generation Datum Panel, which will analyse the reforms required to infrastructure and data sets in order to achieve centimetre-quality results.

SSSC 2013 will run from Monday 15 April to Friday 19 April at the National Convention Centre in Canberra.

More information and registration is available on SSSC 2013 website.
