Position magazine October/November features

With a dual special focus on ‘GIS in the mainstream – open data, crowdsourcing, web mapping’ and ‘GIS and governments – spatially empowered governance’ the October/November 2015 edition of Position Magazine will cover two of the most important and relevant issues of interest to spatial professionals today: how the ongoing move of GIS into the mainstream can be developed into profitable business ventures, and how governments can use geospatial information to improve decision making and service delivery to the public.

For both those working in GIS and in surveying, underlying all location information is the foundational datum from which coordinates are referenced. An exclusive report from Geoscience Australia will go into the details of the proposed GDA2020 two-frame system and what it will mean for spatial professionals.
A special feature will address the open data revolution – how the new era of freely and easily available data has spawned, and the structures that need to put in place to enable the spread of geospatial intelligence across the wider business community.

The issue will also feature a special focus on New Zealand ahead of the 2016 FIG working week. With its focus, Recovery from Disaster, the working week will examine the vital role of spatial professionals in the wake of the many natural disasters expected to come.

Issue 73 will be read by all those who make decisions at various levels of government, as well as those commercial organisations whose business relies on accurate spatial information and advanced data processing software in order to develop their services for public consumption.

The October/November 2014 issue of Position magazine will be the ideal medium to reach buyers in government at all levels, as well as related industries and enterprises involved in developing applications for use by the public. So if your business is to supply equipment, software and/or services in the mapping, aerial photography, data acquisition and processing, and consultancy areas, you can’t afford not to be in Position magazine.
