The Cooperative Research Centre for Spatial Information (CRCSI) has announced that Darren Mottolini will be expanding business opportunities in Western Australia as the newly appointed CRCSI business development manager in Western Australia.

Darren will focus on generating collaborative research and distilling its benefits by working closely with our Western Australian partners. Based in both Landgate and Curtin University offices in Perth, CRCSI believes this strategic alliance will build upon its Western Australian opportunities.

“We already have a very strong research presence in Western Australia particularly our research in the Positioning, Spatial Infrastructures, Health and Planning areas”, said Dr Peter Woodgate, CRCSI CEO.

“Darren’s contribution to our future has come at a time where the significant flow of strong research outputs will increasingly shape the CRCSI’s role into the medium and long term. Industry growth is a key priority for us”.

Starting officially with CRCSI in May, Darren is currently Landgate’s manager of the Shared Location Information Platform (SLIP) Program – the State’s core infrastructure for location information which is responsible for many applications and services now embedded into Western Australian government systems.

As the Western Australian Business Development Manager, Darren’s local knowledge and connections will play a key part in the CRCSI’s support of the developing Location and Innovation Hub formed as part of Western Australia’s Location Information Strategy.

The Hub seeks to share data and services with all sectors to establish new business through research and collaboration. The benefits of this initiative will be widely shared.

Jodi Cant, Landgate’s general manager of business development said, “Landgate has developed a good relationship with the CRCSI over many of years through successful research projects. Darren’s appointment will enhance this vital relationship and we welcome the CRCSI’s involvement in assisting Landgate to realise future opportunities. The Location and Innovation Hub will add to the sustainability of a culture of innovation in Western Australia”.
