Ian Baldwin has been appointed COO of GITA ANZ.

In accordance with the GITA ANZ Strategic Plan 2013-2016, and to ensure successful implementation of recommended actions and priorities, GITA ANZ has appointed an individual to manage its operations and implement the Strategic Plan actions.

On behalf of the Board of the Geospatial Information & Technology Association Australia & New Zealand (GITA ANZ), President Antoine Burdett is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Ian Baldwin to the role of Chief operating officer, GITA ANZ.

Ian, the Board and Antoine will work closely together to deliver the necessary outcomes outlined in the Plan. Ian brings over 25 years of experience within the spatial realm from time spent in the Australian Defence Force and the Utility Sector encompassing Water, Gas and Electricity. A Geomatic Engineer with roots in cartography and operational mapping, bolstered by post-graduate studies in Project Management from Adelaide University makes Ian a strong addition to the GITA ANZ team.

Ian will be a valuable addition to the GITA ANZ Management team.

A Message from Ian Baldwin, COO GITA ANZ

I am humbled and honoured to be appointed the new chief operating officer for such a prestigious organisation as GITA ANZ.  GITA is as relevant now as it was when it was first set up. This is apparent in the board’s focus on the future by setting the new Strategic Plan 2013-2016. I believe that this plan is valuable and worthwhile for all members of the association. How great will it be to see GITA ANZ’s vision “VIEW” – Value, Informative, Encourage and Wisdom be turned into a reality?

Making this happen is a team effort – planning for the New Year starts shortly. We will be actively seeking your input to turn great ideas into reality, such as more localised content and activities, as well as our Annual Conference to be held in Sydney next year. Because, at the end of the day, it is not just my association, it belongs to all of us and will be what we make of it. If you would like to join the president, board, support team, and me in steering GITA ANZ into the future, then I urge you all to get involved and be a part of your association. I look forward to the time ahead and meeting members along the way.

All the best

Ian Baldwin

Chief operating officer
