The ROTORTECH Helicopter and Uncrewed Flight Exposition is the premier industry event for the Helicopter/Rotary Wing and RPAS/UAV/eVTOL community in Australia, New Zealand and the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
Held by AMDA Foundation with input from major industry supporter the Australian Helicopter Industry Association, ROTORTECH 2024 will provide a vital interface between industry, regulators and government, including:
- Operations and safety presentations
- Industry conferences
- Manufacturers technical workshops
- Industry exposition showcasing the products and services of helicopter and uncrewed flight related companies
ROTORTECH 2024 will host conferences by the AHIA and Australian Association for Uncrewed Systems (AAUS) and feature presentations by key rotary and uncrewed flight industry experts from Australia and the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
The Philippines will host the International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS) Technical Commission V (TC V) Symposium with the theme, ‘Insight to Foresight via Geospatial Technologies,’ from 6 to 8 August 2024 in Manila.
The three-day event will feature plenary and parallel sessions, exhibits, poster presentations and business meetings, and aims to inspire new methods of teaching/learning, collaboration, and promotion of accessible and easy-to-use geospatial data among engage professionals, educators and tertiary students.
ISPRS TC V focuses on the capacity building of professionals, educators and students, and in developing cost-effective teaching methods. These include distance learning programs, international collaborations on sharing web-based resources, and curricula development that meets regional needs.

The 2024 Victorian Geospatial Conference will be a dive deep into the latest technologies, trends, and best practices shaping the geospatial sector in Australia. The event will give professionals ranging from GIS specialists to remote sensing experts the chance to gain valuable insights and forge new partnerships.
The event will conclude with the 2024 Victorian Geospatial Excellence Awards ceremony, to be held at the River’s Edge Events venue, directly across the Yarra River from the Convention Centre. The awards will celebrate achievements and innovations by individuals and organisations within Victoria’s geospatial sector.
Registrations are due by Friday 2, August.
GIS Day is an international day dedicated to showing, teaching and inspiring others. Businesses and organisations are encouraged to host an event to spread enthusiasm and help people learn how to use GIS for themselves — in their work, in their schools or where they volunteer.
The event began in 1999, when Esri’s Jack Dangermond, Dr. Roger Tomlinson, and students celebrated the first GIS Day at Murch Elementary School in Washington, DC.
This year’s theme, ‘Mapping Minds, Shaping the World,’ highlights how GIS technology has changed the way we perceive, navigate and shape our world. It shows how combining human creativity with technology helps us discover hidden trends, support sustainable growth, and make smarter decisions using the power of location data.
At the time of writing (mid-October, 2024), around a dozen events were planned across Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific. Organisers can register their events on the event website.
The Association of Public Authority Surveyors (APAS) 2025 Conference will be held at the Rydges Resort Hunter Valley, Lovedale, NSW, in March 2025. The theme of the event will be ‘Plumb lines and mulled wines’.

APAS is a non-profit organisation that brings together surveyors and closely allied spatial information professionals employed by public authorities in NSW and the Australian Capital Territory.
The third International Association of Geodesy (IAG) Commission 4 Symposium will bring together scientists, researchers and professionals working in the broad field of positioning and its applications.
The symposium will serve as a platform for discussing research that leverages current and emerging positioning techniques and technologies. It aims to provide both practical and theoretical solutions across a wide range of topics.
Discussions will address both technical and institutional aspects of developing GNSS backup systems, integrated positioning solutions, resilient PNT systems, and emerging LEO-based PNT techniques. The symposium will also explore space weather monitoring and forecasting through both ground-based and space-based geodetic observations. Additionally, the application of machine learning and artificial intelligence in geodesy will be examined.
The main topics to be covered include:
- Multi-frequency and multi-constellation GNSS technique
- Terrestrial and satellite-based positioning system development
- Multi-sensor fusion navigation and integrity monitoring
- Emerging positioning technologies, e.g., resilient PNT and LEO-based PNT
- Atmospheric space weather monitoring using geodetic observation techniques
- Applications of geodesy to engineering
- Artificial Intelligence technique for geodesy research
The international PNT 2026 conference will be held at Royal Randwick racecourse in Sydney from 4 to 6 February, 2026. The premier Australasian event dedicated to positioning, navigation and timing (PNT) technologies and research, it is being led by the newly established PNT Sub-Committee of the Australian Institute of Navigation (AIN).
Building on the legacy of the IGNSS conference series, the conference is expected to attract many hundreds of PNT experts from around the world, who will gather to learn about research, policy and applications spanning GNSS, autonomy, resilience, and the next generation of multi-GNSS infrastructure.
Keynote speakers included Lieutenant General Susan Coyle, Chief of Joint Capabilities within the Australian Defence Force, and Professor Zak Kassas, the TRC Endowed Chair in Intelligent Transportation Systems at The Ohio State University.

The theme of the conference is ‘Now that’s a boundary!’, which references the fact that Bowral is where the famous cricketer Sir Donald Bradman grew up and also that it is home to the Bradman Museum & International Cricket Hall of Fame.
