Returning to GeoNext again this year is James Moody, who will present on the impending ‘sharing economy’, where the inherent inefficiencies of idle objects will soon be eradicated as we are forced to learn how to share in a resource-scarce world.
James is the founder and CEO of TuShare, a company with a vision of creating the world’s largest community of sharers to help all household items reach their full lifespan. He was previously Executive Director, Development at the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation where he was responsible for CSIRO’s client engagement, international development and futures unit. James sits on the Advisory Board of the Australian Bureau of Statistics and the board of the Australian Indonesia Institute and the Australian Museum. He is passionate about science communication and was a regular panelist on the ABC TV television program The New Inventors and the co-author of the best-selling book The Sixth Wave: How to Succeed in a Resource Limited World.
Additionally, Chris Rizos will make his GeoNext debut, presenting on a high-performance indoor positioning technology that doesn’t rely on Wi-Fi or A-GNSS technology, and has been proven effective down to just a few centimetres of accuracy.
Chris is Professor of Geodesy and Navigation, at the School of Civil & Environmental Engineering of the University of New South Wales (UNSW). Chris is president of the International Association of Geodesy (IAG), a member of the Executive and Governing Board of the International GNSS Service (IGS), and co-chair of the Multi-GNSS Asia Steering Committee. Chris is a Fellow of the IAG, a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Navigation, a Fellow of the U.S. Institute of Navigation, and an honorary professor of Wuhan University, China. In the early 1990s Chris established the Satellite Navigation & Positioning (SNAP) Group at UNSW, Australia’s premier academic navigation research centre. Chris has been researching the technology and applications of GPS and other navigation/positioning systems since 1985, and is an author/co-author of over 600 journal and conference papers.
These two high-profile speakers join Nic Lowe, Dr Kurt Iveson, and Simon Hope on the list of exciting speakers announced for GeoNext 2014 so far.
GeoNext is the conference for users and creators of location-based information, with a particular focus on the next wave of geo-technologies, and how they are shaping entirely new ways to conduct business.
