Sokkia has announced a new Telematics service as a feature of the CX and FX series of total stations.
The telematics-based communications module, known as TSshield, provides remote security and maintenance options, including on-instrument notices of firmware updates. Additionally, if the instrument is lost or stolen, a future firmware release will allow the owner to send a coded signal virtually anywhere in the world to the instrument to disable it.
The CX and FX models (1, 2, 3, 5, and 7 arc second accuracies) feature RED-tech electronic distance measurement (EDM) technology. Jason Lim, Senior Sales Regional Executive, Sokkia Singapore Positioning Sales says, “With the ability to shoot up to 500m reflectorless and 4,000m with a prism, and the fastest measurement time (0.3 seconds per tracking ) in its class, the CX and FX gives extraordinary freedom on any job site,”
The ‘1’ and ‘2’ FX or CX models also utilise Independent Angle Calibration System (IACS) technology, allowing for 1 arc second accurate measurements in a small body.
The CX also has a battery life of up to 36 hours, a rugged metal chassis that boasts an IP66 dustproof and waterproof rating, and Bluetooth Class 1 technology, providing long-distance wireless data communications over more than 300m.
Other key features of the CX and FX series include:
- USB port for convenient field data transfer;
- The convenient, side-mounted trigger key allows the taking of a series of measurements without taking your eye off the telescope;
- Tangent lock securely holds angle accuracy and precision performance;
- Green/red telescope guide light;
- Built-in optional laser pointer.
Sokkia also announced its new MAGNET application software – a cloud-based enterprise solution to help management of, communication with and collaboration across multiple projects and teams.
